Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a process where a client works one-on-one with a mental health therapist in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Individual therapy is an opportunity to receive support and grow during challenging times. You will work with your therapist to develop your personal individual goals that you wish to work on in therapy.
Somatic-based therapies aim to promote the mind-body connection that can be damaged following trauma, chronic pain, stress, or mental health experiences. Utilizing therapeutic techniques such as movement, breathwork, and meditation, somatic therapy is a ‘bottom-up’ approach that is different from traditional CBT and psychotherapy. Somatic therapy emphasizes the regulation of one’s nervous system through the development of physical and internal awareness. With an emphasis on sensory awareness and grounding, somatic therapy provides a unique process of healing.
Somatic-Based Therapies
Trauma Focused Cognitive behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents who have been impacted by trauma. It is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. TF-CBT has proved successful with children and adolescents (ages 3 to 18) who have significant emotional problems, such as symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, or depression, related to traumatic life events. It can be used with children and adolescents who have experienced a single trauma or multiple traumas in their lives.
Play-based therapy
Play is a child’s language and through play therapists can help children learn to understand and process emotions, gain insight into behaviors, and resolve inner conflicts. Through play-based therapy, children can also learn coping and emotional regulation skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an integrative approach to psychotherapy that combines systems thinking with the view that the mind is made up of relatively discrete parts, each with its own unique viewpoint and qualities. A core tenet of IFS is every part has positive intent, even if its actions are counterproductive and/or cause dysfunction. The IFS method promotes internal connection and harmony to bring the mind back into balance.
